It is commonly acknowledged that as much as 70% of the information used by a clinician to make a diagnosis is information sourced from the laboratory. The objective of evidence® is to maximise the diagnostic information available for each patient sample. Therefore empowering the clinician to follow the most effective treatment plan.

Biochip Array Technology from Randox is the latest technological innovation in clinical chemistry analysis.

evidence® is a "walk away" fully automated main laboratory system.

This integrated analyser performs simultaneous quantitative detection of a wide range of protein analytes in a multi-analyte format. evidence® performs multiple immunoassays on each patient sample.

The "new technology" is based on a novel concept to use a biochip as a reaction platform, with multiple specific ligands (antibodies or antigens) attached at pre-defined sites on the surface. The biggest advantage of this technology is the specific and simultaneous profiling of biological markers. The biochip hosts chemical recognition sites for the analysis of multiple parameters.

After addition of a patient sample to the biochip, analytes present in the sample bind the specific ligands. The degree of binding is determined using a chemiluminesence light source and quantified using a Charge Coupled Detector (CCD) camera and imaging system.

evidence® processes one patient sample per biochip. Other automated systems use one cuvette per sample. evidence® can produce up to a hundred test results per biochip unlike such systems that report only one result per cuvette.

Unique features include:

  • A system that has the capacity to perform a test output in excess of 3,600 tests per hour (Based on twenty tests per chip)
  • An imaging system that can read up to 100 analytes simultaneously
  • Biochip technology, a 9mm2 solid substrate containing an array of discrete test regions located on the surface of the biochip

Several different immunoassay based multi-analyte panels have been developed for use on evidence®. An array is numerous different assays, located at pre-defined co-ordinates, on a biochip surface. The array of tests currently available includes:

  • Thyroid Array
  • Fertility Array
  • Tumour Array
  • Cytokines and Growth Factor Array
  • Drugs of Abuse Array
  • Allergen Array
  • Cardiac Array
  • Drug Residue Array
  • Test panels in development (Please contact for further information)

All operational functions of evidence® are managed and controlled by the dedicated Windows® based system software. System sensors enable regular updates of onboard inventory details, which are displayed on the user screen.

Due to the test results needs of laboratories varying, evidence® software offers the option to report only the test results required by the clinician.

It is feasible to retrieve de-selected results at a later date, using the retrospective test result facility.
